A few things to catch up on.. Let's see, last we left off, it was hours before my Going Away Party, Saturday November 19th, and things have been fairly hectic since then...
The party was a pretty big success, if I do say so myself... Nobody got plastered, everyone was popping in and out through the night and I was even able to see some friends I haven't in a good while.. Some stories were told, drinks were had, laughter and tears here and there. Safe to say a lot of my friends are looking forward to the stories I'll be telling on here haha. It was a nice send off, better than I thought, not as big either, so it felt pretty good, didn't get near as anxious as I did with Her going away party. After the party ended and everyone went home, Molly hung out with me by the fire and I decided I wanted food haha, so we ran to McDonald's and made a startling discovery... The food doesn't burn when you put it in a fire! D: Haven't eaten there since.. I also enjoyed my last cigar, a gift from Brock given a few weeks prior.
Sunday was a bit of bar hopping, saying goodbye to friends working behind the counter, the ones that have been there through breakups, family deaths, and even some really good times. It amazes me how little I figure Brewski's will change, but it really blows me away how much Sand Trap has changed in the time since I first went there.
Monday seen my last time at JSS, a headache for far too long, for anything special, just dropping off paperwork to be ready for court Tuesday.
Tuesday seen my last review in court, my freedom given back, and a fairly optimistic farewell from my judge, he was a good guy. Later that night I visited with my grandmother and my father, seeing as how it would be the last night I'd see either of them. Molly ended up coming over and helping me calm down my dad, he was pretty wound up about everything..
Wednesday the 23rd was the day of our flight, and was that a hectic day or what... I had to get things moved over to Molly and Jamie's, get my hair buzzed off, finish packing my rooms, and get my backpack finished... All before grabbing dinner with Brock and Rikell before our flight to Albuquerque. We ended up hitting up Union Grill in Ogden, a place I previously worked, though the location has moved. It was a good dinner, the four of us just reminiscing over the past year together, laughing about things that had happened, lamenting on the ones no longer with us, discussing my Adventure and where it'll lead to. Needless to say it was a nice send off, I'm really going to miss them. Once we got to SLC International, it was a bit of a headache haha.. They ended up changing the terminal on us, then we were grounded for another hour, at least, it was a rough start to leaving Utah, but eventually we landed in ABQ, NM... flight was suppose to leave at 10:30pm or so, and we landed about 1am.. Molly's Uncle John met us at the airport and after a fairly short drive, we were at their home and getting ready for bed.
Thursday, Thanksgiving, was pretty great, the food was amazing, John and Becky were great hosts and I went nearly into a coma from all delicious food. Spent the rest of the day relaxing, catching up on stories of Molly's family and getting to know John and Becky. For being somewhere new, with new friends, away from family, with how last year went.. it was good. I called my dad, talked to him a bit while he was working, yes, he worked on Thanksgiving, usually my plan as well, he seems like he's doing alright. I didn't cry, but I did miss my mom terribly.. I'm trying to be alright, and even when trying to sleep, it was pretty tough..
Today, Friday, 25th, we went to check out Sandia Crest, I'll put pictures of that up in another post. I also found some time to update this bad boy, hopefully I'll be able to keep up with it while I'm out and about. Tuesday I'll get a my last few packages of supplies and head out from Albuquerque, thinking I might hit up Roswell before heading to Fort Worth.. I'll post pictures from my Going Away Party and a few from Sandia Crest.
Later Days.
“I took my lucky break and I broke it in two,
Put on my worried shoes, my worried shoes,
Took me so many miles and they never wore out,
My worried shoes, my worried shoes,
Oo-o-o-oo o-oo-ooo, my worried shoes”
